Variations Quantity Control (Each & Total)

When you have the variable product(s) with variations and you want to set the product buyable as following steps (E.g. – 3/6/9/12 etc). And also you want to set the mix/combination of variations you may follow this documentation.
For better understanding, In this part – a scenario is created and described clearly.

Scenario:

I want to have a product(s) in my store with different sizes. This product is only buyable as 3, 6, 9, 12 as followings. The customer can mix all sizes. E.g. 1x Large + 3x Medium + 2x Small (Total = 6, in quantity) or He/She can buy 9 of the same. So, what’s the best practice with our plugin to make this happen?

Solution of this Scenario:

  1. For a buyable product as following the steps – 3/6/9/12 ……….
You have to set the step on Cart Page Condition Step as – 3
    Follow this screenshot:
Figure 1: Set Step Quantity as 3
  1. Now you have to check out the products with a minimum of 3
Figure 2: Need Valid Quantity (Multiplier of 3)
  1. If you try to update your cart with the quantity of 4 – it will show Value should be a multiplier of 3.
So, the customer has to order it as 3/6/9/12 ……..
Figure 3: Quantity 4 is not Acceptable (Need Multiplier of 3)

For the Mixed variation follow these steps: [Discuss this scenario – E.g. 1x Large + 3x Medium + 2x Small (Total = 6, in quantity)]

  1. You have to set the Variation minimum quantity total from here:
Figure 4: Variation Minimum Quantity as 3
  1. i. Now, have selected 1x Large – It will add the quantity to the cart but the cart does not allow checkout (after going to the cart) – because its minimum total quantity is 3
Figure 5: Need Minimum 3 Quantity

ii. It will show this message: Value should be a multiplier of 3 (should be or greater than 3)

Figure 6: Need Multiplier of 3 (Min & Step is 3)

3. i. Now you select 3x Medium – it will add to the cart

Figure 7: Try another variation.

ii. But, you cannot still checkout the order because it still does not match the requirements (1+3 = 4, should be a multiplier of 3 ) –

Figure 8: Step Validation Checking

4. i. Now last one – 2x Small

Figure 9: Step Validation Checking with Different Variations

ii. You can now check out your order (total quantity is: 1 + 3 + 2 = 6) –

Figure 10: Step Validation Checking with Different Variations (In Total)

5. i. If you try to update the cart – 2x Large

Figure 11: Step Validation Checking with Different Variations (In Total – Multiplier)

ii. It can’t check out the order because a total number of (2 + 3 + 2 = 7) is not a multiplier of 3. So, you have to order (total) it as 3/6/9/12 ………
